{"id":8606,"date":"2019-05-13T09:00:51","date_gmt":"2019-05-13T09:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/smartplug.com\/?p=8606"},"modified":"2020-09-23T10:09:46","modified_gmt":"2020-09-23T10:09:46","slug":"your-spring-boat-repair-checklist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/smartplug.com\/oldsite\/your-spring-boat-repair-checklist\/","title":{"rendered":"Your Spring Boat Repair Checklist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With Spring officially underway, that means people are taking their boats out of winter storage and prepping them to head into the water for a fun-filled boating season.<\/p>\n<p>As you get your boat ready this Spring, be sure to follow this repair checklist to avoid future problems during the season:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check belts, cables, and hoses as they can become brittle and may crack during winter storage.<\/li>\n<li>Inspect the fuel system for leaks or damage including fuel hoses, connections and tank surfaces.<\/li>\n<li>Inspect your electrical connections to ensure they are secure with no signs of corrosion or overheating.<\/li>\n<li>Check all fluid levels including engine oil, power steering, power trim reservoirs, and coolant.<\/li>\n<li>Inspect propellers for dings, pitting, cracks and distortion.<\/li>\n<li>Check the hull for blisters, distortions, and cracks.<\/li>\n<li>Inspect the battery and connection.<\/li>\n<li>Check all helm switches to be sure they are operational.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure all lights are in working order.<\/li>\n<li>Replace the batteries on all smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.<\/li>\n<li>Check all cleats, rail fittings, and deck fittings to ensure they are tight and secure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many of these items require simple fixes.
